2-6pm, Monday-Friday during the school year (36 weeks/year)
Up to $25/hr based on experience
Position Overview
The Village Community Center (VCC) is launching an afterschool program for children grades K-6 at the Harrisville Wells Memorial School, and seeks a program lead to supervise attendees. The program will be based on free-play, with some programming provided by volunteers and visitors. The Program Lead will be responsible for setting up, meeting the children as the school day ends at 2:30pm, supervising until 5:30pm, and cleaning up. The position will be focused on the actual care provided during program hours, and will receive administrative support directly from the directors of the VCC.
Qualifications
Meets educational and experience qualifications established by the Child Care Licensing Unit.
At least 21 years of age.
CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within the first 30 days of hire.
Health form completed within the first 30 days of hire.
Ability to be flexible, multi-task, and have knowledge of basic computer skills.
Essential Functions
Supervises a group of 3-13 children, ages 5-12.
Provides leadership to co-staff.
Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness.
Follows the afterschool program policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
Builds and maintains positive, culturally aware relationships with parents, youth participants, volunteers, and other staff.
Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Solicits volunteer programming to supplement afterschool activities.
